Newly Updated Car Lane Procedures
Over the last seven years, I have worked tirelessly with the PTA and the City of Naperville to create a safer and painless car lane procedure for our Brookdale students, families, staff and community. Each year, it appears there are more and more using the car lane and more and more who don't follow the outlined procedures.
Last Spring, I consulted with Mr. Mike Anders, District 204's Director of Safety, Coordination and Emergency. We developed a revised plan for our Car Rider Lane which should alleviate double parking along Redfield Road west of Bainbridge.
In order to have the procedures clear to everyone, we have created the attached procedures for all to view. We need everyone to understand this new process - beginning the car rider lane northbound on Bainbridge and turning onto Redfield Road - will provide a safer and more efficient process for all involved. We will have staff outside in both the morning and afternoon the first few weeks to enforce and model this new process.
In addition, I am asking families to either walk to school or use the car rider lane. By decreasing the amount of parked cars around our school and neighborhood during our Arrival and Departure time would assist in an overall effective process.
Please carefully review the attached procedure outline and Brookdale neighborhood map so that everyone has an idea of how they will access the Redfield Road car lane on Monday morning.
We appreciate your understanding and support while using our car lane.
